Gabjang-gwa cucumber with beef



Beef 300g

Cucumber 1

Kosher salt 2Tbs

Master soy sauce 3Tbs

Sesame oil 2Tbs

Plum enzyme 2Tbs

Minced garlic 2Tbs

Sea salt Sprinkle

Vegetable oil Sprinkle



Today, we will make cucumber

“Gabjang-gwa”(pickle)

Gabjang-gwa is a traditional Korean word,

literally means ‘to pickle in haste’

1. Chop cucumbers 5cm apart and Remove seeds


2. Julienne the cucumber: thinly slice


3. Salt for 15mins using kosher salt


4. Trim fat of beef and chop into pan fry sizes



5. Sauce: add 3 spoons of soy sause, 2 spoons of sesame oil, 2 spoons of 매실액, 2 spoons of garlic and salt. Mix with beaf and let it sit for 10 mins.


6. Pickle cucumber until it comes soft. Rinse through water two times.


7. (1 serve) Pan fry beef on a pre heated pan.


8. Once half cooked, add pickled cucumber


9. Once half cooked, add pickled cucumber


10. Cook until it's completely cooked


11. Place on a plate and sprinkle sesame seeds








As mentioned before, Australian cucumbers

are not the best to make Korean dishes

as they are a bit too watery.

Korean dishes using Australian cucumbers
